The Real Shift

Greetings, skin microbiome enthusiasts!

Three weeks into my new full-time job at the Bezos Center. And I have to tell you something. When I decided to go back to a W2 position, I was terrified.

Not in the way you might think.

I know myself. I have a pattern. When I work, I work. Completely. Fully. No boundaries. Burnout is my natural state if I’m not conscious about it. I’ve been there before. I know what it looks like.

But the real fear? The thing that kept me up at night wasn’t just repeating that cycle. It was what it would take from me.

My family. My kids. My husband. I’ve worked too hard to keep that prioritized. And Fafabiotic. My passion. The thing I’d finally built that I actually love. Losing hours to that scared me more than burnout itself.

So going back full-time felt like I was choosing between two things I couldn’t live without.

What I Didn’t Expect

But something unexpected happened.

My weekends are full. Really full. Time with my family. Content for Fafabiotic. Videos. Building something I believe in. And somehow, I’m actually disconnecting from work when I leave.

I show up Monday refreshed. Not burnt out. Not carrying Friday into the next week. Just reset.

I’m not losing either of them. Family or Fafabiotic. Both are still there.

The Money Thing

Here’s the part I didn’t anticipate. This W2 job takes the pressure off Fafabiotic in a way I didn’t know I needed.

When you’re bootstrapping, everything feels existential. Every marketing dollar feels dangerous. I’m pouring resources into marketing right now. It’s expensive. There’s no conversion yet. And when you’re income contributor for your family, that keeps you up at night.

You second-guess everything. You panic. You work every hour trying to make it work faster because the stakes feel so high.

But now I have a paycheck. I have stability. I can actually breathe long enough to look at the data without panicking. I can trust the process. I can know that not seeing immediate results doesn’t mean failure. It means we’re still learning.

That changes how I show up as a founder. Instead of desperate, I’m strategic.

And honestly? That’s when better decisions happen.

The Real Thing

I think it’s maturity. I think it’s knowing what burnout actually costs. But mostly? It’s knowing you have a full life outside of work. People I love. Passions that matter. And when you have that, the pressure to make everything work RIGHT NOW isn’t crushing you anymore.

Your mental health matters. Your physical health matters. Your relationships matter. The financial stability that lets you actually breathe matters.

And yes, simple skincare matters too.

Because when your nervous system isn’t in constant fight-or-flight mode, everything gets better. Your work. Your decisions. Your life.

Until next blog, cheers!
