Farzaneh Rezaei
Founder of Fafabiotic | Microbial Formulation Scientist | Mom on a Mission
Some stories start in a lab, some in a home, and some are deeply rooted in culture. Mine? It started with all three.
Growing up in Persian culture, I was surrounded by ancient beauty rituals—natural remedies, fermented skincare, and a deep respect for the power of nature. These traditions weren’t just about beauty; they were about balance, wellness, and harnessing nature’s intelligence.
As I built my career in microbial formulation development, I spent 15 years helping small and big companies turn microbial ideas into real, high-impact products. My work contributed to several successful microbial solutions that are now applied to millions of acres of corn, soybean, and wheat—and even fed to millions of chickens to improve their health and nutrition. I saw firsthand how powerful microbes are in restoring balance, protecting ecosystems, and transforming industries.
But it wasn’t until my own children struggled with their skin that I realized the power of microbes could do something even more personal.

Graphic design advisor
Ms. Farkhondeh Rezaei is an experienced Senior Graphic Designer & head of the Design department with a demonstrated history of working in the food & beverages industry. Skilled in Logo Design, Branding & Identity, Advertising, Typography, and Offset Printing. As the owner’s sister, Farkhondeh understands the deep meaning this brand holds for her sibling. She has been generously sharing her knowledge and talent across various aspects of graphic design and brand creation.
Business development advisor
Dr. Joe Rollin is FafaBiotic’s Business Development advisor, assisting the company in finding new business opportunities as well as partnerships. After earning his BS in chemical engineering at Notre Dame and four years in the US Army as a combat engineer officer, Joe got his PhD in Biological Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech. During his graduate work, he cofounded two companies: Gate Fuels Inc., which focused on making various fuels and chemicals from cellulosic biomass, and Cell-free Bioinnovations Inc. (CFB), which leveraged enzyme-based systems for producing hydrogen, electricity, and ingredients. Dr. Rollin spent a few years at the US Department of Energy following up US National Renewable Energy Laboratory helping focus on various aspects of the Biotechnology area. In late 2019, he joined DMC Biotechnologies as Director of Business Development. Since that time Joe supported DMC in closing two funding rounds, an $11M series A and a $39M series B.
Scientific advisory: Dermatology
Dr. Scott A. Smith is FafaBiotic’s Dermatology advisor. Dr. Scott A. Smith is Board Certified in Dermatology with the Added Qualification of Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Dr. Smith is a Clinical Assistant Professor for Washington State University Medical School as well as a Clinical Instructor for the University of Washington School of Medicine. He enjoys teaching and frequently has family practice residents, nurse practitioner students, or medical students rotating with him at his office. Dr. Smith is currently a member of numerous medical societies including the American Academy of Dermatology.
