Greetings, Skin Microbiome Enthusiast
This week’s blog is about one of our core beliefs at Fafabiotic: Less is more. But is it just a catchy phrase—or can it really work?
I believe it can. In fact, I believe it must.
When it comes to taking care of our skin, we don’t need product after product after product to keep it healthy, or even to keep it beautiful. Years of marketing have convinced us that missing a step; Vitamin C, retinol, glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid—means we’re neglecting our skin. We’ve been taught that more is better, that layering actives is the path to glow.
And when it comes to actual skin concerns? Dermatologists often turn to aggressive chemical prescriptions. Their justification? “Show me double-blinded clinical trials, and I’ll trust your product.” But we have to ask, who created those trials, and with what purpose? Most were designed for pharmaceutical drugs, not for microbial-based skincare. And certainly not for living probiotics.
If you’re someone who can’t imagine skipping your 5-step (or 10-step) routine, I invite you to pause. Take a look at the full ingredient list of each product you’re using. Compare them. You’ll likely see the same ingredients showing up across multiple steps. Then ask yourself: Do I really need to apply the same ingredients multiple times per day just because they’re packaged differently?
At Fafabiotic, we built our entire approach around the truth that multifunctional, living skincare can do more with less. Thanks to live, active probiotic cells, you can benefit from just one product. These aren’t empty claims—this is microbiology in action. And here’s the beauty: over time, as your skin finds balance, even your need for our product will likely decrease. We’re not creating dependency, we’re helping your skin learn to thrive on its own.
What worries me, though, is how normalized it’s become to overuse products without questioning why. Skincare has turned into a consumption. And we haven’t even begun to talk about the waste—bottles, tubes, plastic, and packaging from routines filled with 7 or more products.
I hope you’ll join me in making “less is more” more than a tagline. At Fafabiotic, I’m not just saying the words, I’m living them. I’ve built a product that replaces multiple steps with one safe, natural, probiotic-rich formula. All you need is this—and sunscreen, if that’s your thing.
Let’s practice it together. Your skin and the planet will thank you.
