Greetings, skin microbiome enthusiasts,
Aging does not always happen gradually. Sometimes it happens in waves.
Recent research suggests that there are two periods in life when our bodies go through faster biological changes. One around age 44 and another around age 60.
Let’s talk about the first one, especially for women.
Around our mid forties, many women begin experiencing noticeable shifts in hormones and metabolism. Estrogen levels begin to fluctuate and slowly decline. At the same time, collagen production slows, skin hydration changes, and the skin’s ability to repair itself becomes less efficient.
In other words, our biology is changing.
Many women describe this moment in a very simple way. One day they look in the mirror and think, “Did I age overnight?”
The truth is that, biologically speaking, something close to that actually happens.
What makes this period even more interesting is that it often overlaps with one of the busiest seasons of life.
Many of us are raising teenagers.
Managing demanding careers.
Supporting children through school and college decisions.
Sometimes helping aging parents as well.
Life becomes fuller, more complex, and more demanding.
And in the middle of all of this, our bodies begin shifting into a new phase.
This is exactly why this stage of life is a powerful reminder to take care of ourselves more intentionally. Not only emotionally and mentally, but physically as well.
Sleep becomes more important.
Nutrition matters more.
Stress management becomes essential.
Movement and recovery become part of long term health.
And our skin deserves thoughtful care too.
Skin is not separate from the rest of our biology. It reflects what is happening inside our bodies. Instead of adding more complicated routines, many women begin looking for simpler and more intelligent ways to care for their skin.
This idea was one of the reasons I created Fafabiotic.
As a microbial formulation scientist, I wanted to create skincare that works with biology, not against it. Fafabiotic products are powered by living probiotics and designed to support the skin with a simple one step routine.
Because at this stage of life, simplicity is not laziness. It is wisdom.
If you are navigating your forties and suddenly noticing changes in your skin, you are not imagining it. Your body is going through a real biological transition.
The good news is that this stage can also be a time to reconnect with your health, your routines, and the way you care for yourself inside and out.
And if you are curious about a different approach to skincare, you are always welcome to explore

And:
With everything happening in the world around us, it is also important to remember something simple. Aging is a blessing. Not everyone gets the privilege of moving through these stages of life. Every year, every wrinkle, every shift in our skin is also a sign that we are here, living, growing, learning, and witnessing life unfold. Instead of fearing these changes, we can choose to care for ourselves with more intention and gratitude.
Until next blog, cheers
